‘Tis the week before Christmas (or thereabouts) and the start of Hanukkah; lights are up or going up all over the neighborhood, and I am counting the days to getting the tax stuff together. Putting our place into Christmas mode takes literally 7 weekends in a row, and this last weekend we threw an open house for friends, coworkers and neighbors that was a lot of fun, but definitely a lot of work. That is why not much has changed on the face of Senior Fitness.com for a couple of weeks. I just spent time trimming the Christmas picture (taken at the open house, by which time I was fairly relaxed due to several glasses of good wines) to be mailed to our family and friends, and I have to confess I am not the picture of fitness I was last month. There I stand with my arms around loved ones and my belly sticking out like someone my age; not the image I want out there at all. Missed workouts, frequent large meals, celebratory lunches at work instead of workouts, have taken their toll as they always seem to about this time of year. Holiday cheer can be debilitating.
But I have a secret advantage: I can rip this off and be at full glory in about a month when its over, because I know the technology to do so. The strategies to enable staying fit and recovering from lapses fills the pages of this site. I’m still working to lay it out in an easy to follow way, but to be truthful, it takes time to change your lifestyle and your fitness, and to learn what really works. There are so many misleading sources of information, differences of opinion and some of it is counter-intuitive to boot. I am still working on the Category structure of the site and writing the Category content so that they provide the essential information to maintain health and fitness into advanced age and avoid the disease states that take us down along the way. Stay with us and you will see the improvement.
My resolution for this next year is to make site more concisely informative; clearer statements of practical steps to make your body function at top capacity for the rest of your life. Part of that effort involves getting myself into the best shape ever. And I will need to to make next year successful. I am contemplating investing in a company that operates a several medical delivery facilities that combine doctors, chiropractic, physical therapy, nutritional counseling and personal trainers, with facilities for examination, treatment, in a gym setting that includes serious weight training, floor work, yoga, Pilates and spinning, with the usual saunas, steam rooms and locker facilities. It is an idea that I had when I first thought of the Senior Fitness site, which was to be a stepping stone to founding a chain of Senior Fitness Studios. Well, these guys beat me to it, and I called to see if there were opportunities for investment. We talked, compared goals and technology, and I am very excited about joining forces. In the process, they thought I would make a good spokesman for their philosophy, and I may be doing PR spots on TV and in print. If we take the leap, it should come together in early January, and I will have much more about this company on this website. More than that, I will be able to have a physical site and clients to employ and prove these strategies; I will be able to back up what I preach with clinical results. This site should be enriched by the process.
